Who we are and what we do
ishakespeare.co.uk is run by a bunch of friends who share at least one thing in common - Shakespeare has immeasurably enriched our lives - and we want everyone to get as much out of involving themselves with Shakespeare as we do. Using ishakespeare.co.uk requires no prior knowledge - only an interest, however undeveloped. You may be an infrequent theatregoer or aficionado; a student or teacher; a time-poor commuter or a time-rich retiree - the audios you'll find on the site are intended to be approachable, jargon-free, authoritative yet entertaining.
The project's Editor is Paul Kent, formerly drama commissioning editor, director and producer at BBC World Service and BBC Radio 4, with an extensive production slate dating back over 20 years.
Our Joint Artistic Directors are the actors David Rintoul and Vivien Heilbron. David has enjoyed great acclaim as a performer with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre and Shakespeare's Globe. He has also been involved in a number of Shakespeare outreach projects, the most recent of which is the London Shakespeare Workout. Vivien, in addition to a distinguished performing career, is an honorary fellow of the Shakespeare Institute at the University of Birmingham, and is an Associate Director of Actors From the London Stage, a company which presents Shakespeare in America in mainly university campuses on a regular basis.
Our Journalism Director is Hayley Radford, formerly an editor at Time Out, and compiler and presenter of Oneword Radio arts magazine The Gallery. She currently oversees the internet magazine, The Arts Pod.
And of course there's our army of performers - the cream of Shakespearean acting talent.
Further associates will be announced soon.
